Vicryl suture
Composition: Polyglactin 910 (a copolymer composed of 90% polyglycolic acid and 10% polylactic acid) coated with polyglactin 370 (a mixture of equal parts polyglycolic acid and polylactic acid copolymer) and calcium stearate.

Tensile strength disappears 35 days after implantation. Vicryl is completely resorbed after approximately 56 to 70 days by hydrolysis. Sutures for coaptation and/or ligation of soft tissues in general, including ophthalmology, peripheral nerve anastomoses and vascular microsurgery on vessels less than 2 mm in diameter. There are insufficient data on the safety and efficacy of Vicryl sutures in cardiovascular surgery.
Contraindicated for coaptation of edges likely to be subjected to significant traction.
